UAE Port Deal Brings to Light Other Horrors!
(
The storm over port deal, the horror facts!)

**Bush faces a potential rebellion from leaders of his own party, as well as a fight from Democrats, over the sale. As resistance grew, critics of the ports deal gained new ammunition from a State Department report critical of human rights practices in the United Arab Emirates.

The report said discrimination against non citizens, who make up 85% of the UAE population, is illegal. Yet "it was prevalent and occurred in most areas of daily life, including employment, housing, social interaction and healthcare," the report said. View full report at:
Reports on Human Rights Practices in the UAE - 2005

**Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington)  quoted in her editorial: As we examined the UAE and its relationship with the United States, a little known issue came to light, and it is one that deserves our attention – a human rights violation that most Americans would find loathsome: Camel jockeying.

"I am thankful that we can declare victory in defeating the ports transaction. The UAE remains an ally in the War on Terror, and I am encouraged to hear that its government is working to eliminate this human rights abuse.       View full text at: An Examination of UAE Port Deal Brings to Light Other Horrors!

**There once was a man who understood the power of "Economic Jihad." He was the first man to use OIL as a political weapon. He called the United States his "Number Two Enemy. Second only to Israel.....

**The multi-billionaire Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan (UAE president), was an early patron of the PLO, and from the 1970’s until his death in 2004, contributed millions of dollars to the terror agenda of the PLO, HAMAS and Islamic Jihad.

Human Appeal International, a UAE government-operated “charitable” organization, whose board includes the UAE president, funds HAMAS as well as other Palestinian organizations, “martyrs,” Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons and their families. The HAI’s modus operandi is to transfer money to the Palestinian Red Crescent Organization whose West Bank and Gaza branches are operated by HAMAS. They, in turn, distribute the money to HAMAS “charities. View full text at: Welcoming Terror to U.S. Ports.

**The Coast Guard expressed serious concern about the Dubai-based DP World’s (‘DPW’) proposed takeover of U.S. ports if it buys U.K.-based P&O, the company currently responsible for significant U.S. port security operations. Coast Guard raised concerns on port deal

UAE, which supported al-Qaeda, sent 9/11 terrorists and funding, and continues to support Palestinian suicide bombers and particularly HAMAS, which President Bush calls “a terrorist organization.”

**Skyscrapers and Repression "Despite the glittering skyscrapers and excessive wealth of the United Arab Emirates, it is a society that has very little in common with our own. According to the State Department, "There are no democratically elected institutions or political parties ... [and] there are no general elections." Freedom of the press does not exist in the United Arab Emirates, nor does unrestricted Internet access. View full text at: Bush and the Ports: The Honeymoon Is Over

**The Anti-Defamation League is demanding the American administration prevent a Dubai-owned corporation from operating seaports in the United States until the United Arab Emirates issues an official statement indicating it has abandoned the boycott of Israel.

"Dubai continues to be an active partner in the economic boycott of Israel," ADL Director Abraham Foxman. "This fact alone is reason enough to suspend or even cancel the implementation of the contract [for the operation of the seaports]," Foxman said. "Allies in the War on Terror"?  Debate over the ports deal has been the United States' relationship with the United Arab Emirates.

Supporters contend UAE is a dedicated U.S. 'ally' with deep involvement in Western businesses.

Opponents of the ports deal say, UAE is not or should not be an ally in good standing. With their history and relationship with Osama, they should be considered a provisional ally under constant review. They are NOT in the same class as Britain. That has NOTHING to do with whether they are Muslim or not. That is a red herring argument. Going ahead with this deal, especially considering the lowered requirements on DPW/UAE, gives the jihadists of the world proof that the US is a fool for money/oil/power. And an easy mark for another terror attack.

(It is noted that, Saddam Hussein — and other countless dictators  also were dedicated as U.S. 'allies' in the era of Cold War.")

The UAE may well be a U.S. ally, at this time, but alliances are subject to change with changing national interests. Who can say where the UAE's loyalties might lie in future?" — Jim (Fredericksburg, VA)

                                          The BCCI Affair

Abedi created the UAE. He planted the idea of the UAE as a federation to Sheikh Zayed. These people had no standing anywhere in the world. They were smugglers and tribesmen. (The BCCI Banking Scandal).
