Port Deal and Human Rights

'The Victims of Injustice, United Arab Emirates'

“I believe that no state action is justifiable which purports to violate basic human rights and when it is against all established cannons of justice and equity.”

(The bitter experience of Mr. Jabir's life and his first-hand knowledge of the realities are ample illustrations that go into the very heart of the matter. For more detail click the links at:
Testimonials)

Foreign Prisoners In UAE:-

There are thousands of men and women languishing in UAE prisons, either without a trial, or even if they are acquitted, they remain in prison for a long time. Many are forced to sign confessions for the crimes they never committed and lastly because of the inhuman treatment in the prisons, many prisoners have lost their mental balance and have turned into vegetables.

Camel Jockeys In UAE:-

According to a documentary (View Video) by the Channel HBO and the Ansar Burney Trust, the child jockeys live in camps encircled with barbed wire near the racetracks. Many of the children are only fed two biscuits a day with water and are forced work up to 18 hours a day, while those who disobey orders are punished with electric shocks, tied in chains and beaten. They are provided no medical treatment whatsoever and those who die are buried in the desert in unmarked graves.

(Human rights are given prime importance in our socio-political life. It would be proud privilege and primary duty of the Governments, press and responsible persons to come to the rescue of innocent citizens against a mighty state repressing every human rights and depriving the victim of his/her very sustenance).

No Free Trade Pacts Without Reform !

The United States and the European Union should not sign free trade deals with the UAE until it ends its mistreatment of foreign workers.

One of the world’s largest construction booms is feeding off of workers in Dubai, but they’re treated as less than human. It’s no surprise that some workers have started rioting in protest. What’s surprising is that the government of the UAE is doing nothing to solve the problem.
